Logitech MX Anywhere 3S

Logitech

The compact mouse I'd run if portability weren't my top priority. I travel with the flat Magic Mouse, but the MX Anywhere 3S is the one I keep coming back to — it tracks on nearly any surface including glass, the MagSpeed wheel flips between precise ratchet and free-spin for tearing through long pages, and the clicks stay quiet enough for a live call. Full transparency: it's on my shortlist to switch to, not something I've logged months on yet — but everything about how it feels in the hand is right.

9.0/10 Recommended

What works

  • Tracks on almost any surface, even glass, up to 8K DPI
  • MagSpeed wheel switches between precise ratchet and fast free-spin scrolling
  • Quiet clicks that won't bleed into a hot mic
  • USB-C charging and pairs across three devices over Bluetooth

The trade-offs

  • Right-handed shape only
  • Full button customization needs Logitech's Options+ software
  • Mid-price, not a budget pick

Apple Magic Mouse

I know this mouse gets a pile of hate, and I genuinely like it anyway. It is the one I travel with: flat enough to disappear into a bag, it pairs and just works across my Apple gear, and it holds a charge for weeks. The famous flaw is real, but it has never actually gotten in my way. If space wasn't an issue, I'd be taking a Logitech MX Anywhere 3S because I genuinely appreciate the feel of that one more, but I'm always a suck for space saving when possible.

The big glass surface that makes macOS gestures actually worth using. Swipe between desktops, four-finger Mission Control, and pinch-to-zoom feel native here in a way no mouse matches, and the whole thing charges over USB-C and pairs the moment you plug it in. Especially useful for sliding around sales spreadsheets left and right (pro-tip: you can use Shift+Scroll to scroll left/right). I love the Show Desktop gesture where you spread four fingers out. I have some awesome widgets on my desktop for weather, to-do's, etc that I can see quickly that way too. Battery life lasts for months on a single charge.
